The world lost a good one last night when my mom, Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Baker, passed away. Mom was a dynamic person who spent her life helping people. My brother John and I have lots of great memories of her, she lives on in us, and we hope to be able to live up to her standards. Born on Halloween in 1941, she embraced her witchiness and had a sign on her parking spot that read: “Warning: Witch Parking Only. All others will be toad.” Mom was a hoot, and loved to tell the story of how I went to her in middle school complaining that I was boring. So, she taught me how to have a sense of humor (according to her….). When we found out in September that her cancer was terminal, she was frustrated that she wouldn’t be able to do more in the CASA program for children (court appointed special advocate) that she had recently been certified in. She checked in with her CASA partner many times over the past 4 months to make sure things were going well for the children they served. This is only one of the many stories I could tell. My brother and I are doing well. I was able to visit her last Thursday-Sunday, and we had a great visit. So, raise a glass and toast the passing of a great lady! Cheers, Mom.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayer's for Mom. She really appreciated it and all of the cards and phone calls too. She was a special woman and we will miss her tremendously. It was a joy to have her here with me and Katie these last three months. We enjoyed having her here so much. She fought hard until the end and never complained about anything. She was a real trooper and inspiration. The world will not be the same with her not in it.
