| GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS NKAR FRANKFORT HILL VISITS Members of NKAR visited with our local state
legislators on Wednesday to gain their support on bills that are
currently being considered that could have an impact on our industry.
Some of the bills we discussed were: HB 277 – Local Taxation of Business – would
require a standardized form for the collection of Occupational Taxes for
use by all to simplify the process. We support this bill. HB 120 – Sales Tax on Services - would
allow tax on closing costs/services associated with the transfer of
existing residential and nonresidential property. We oppose this
bill. SB 34 – Metal Dealers – would require seller
(of metals) to be fingerprinted, to give a physical address and would
require dealers to only pay the seller in the form of a check or money
order. We support this bill. Private Transfer Fees (proposed legislation)
– allows a Developer to attach a private transfer fee on
properties they develop that would remain with the property each time it
transfers allowing the original Developer to continue to receive profit
from each sale. We are opposed to this type of transfer tax. back to menu |
