Come “Home” to Northern Kentucky-Super Open House Weekend

Florence, KY – October 21, 2013. Northern Kentucky REALTORS® are inviting the public to tour open homes during the upcoming Fall Super Open House Weekend event – Come “Home” to Northern Kentucky, November 2-3.  There’s still time to settle into your dream home before the holidays. Northern Kentucky homes are prime and ready for new owners to start the next chapter of their lives.

In September, home sales were up nearly 24% over last September.  For the year, home sales are 18% higher than they were at the end of September 2012, a sign of sustained housing recovery in Northern Kentucky.   Average sale prices are up for the month of September ($161,694) by 16% over prices from one year ago ($138,558). Year to date, average home prices rose by 7% over the same time of 2012, which should help to renew seller’s confidence that their home values are rising modestly.  Days on Market have also drastically improved for the month of September.  With only 79 days on market compared to last September’s 90, homes are closing faster which may indicate that stringent lending standards that have plagued home buyers in recent years is easing up.

Further relief of extreme lending standards is the key to growth in housing sales.  Home sales would likely be higher by returning to reasonably safe and sound lending standards, including ready access to the 15 and 30 year mortgage products.  Today’s home buyer understands that they will have to maintain a high credit standard and stable employment history to qualify for a home.

A housing recovery, job creation and the economy go hand in hand. When companies create new employment opportunities, those new employees pump money in to the economy buying cars, clothing, and other necessities.  When houses are sold, there is a noticeable boost to the local economy as new homeowners buy furnishings, upgrades and landscaping for their new home.  This is all good news for families, neighborhoods, and the country.

Your local REALTOR® is a valuable resource in the home buying process.  REALTORS® comply with mandatory education requirements each year and take an oath to abide by a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.  Their experience and professional approach to the home buying or selling process is a proven asset to the public who often needs someone who has the understanding and guidance to see them through to a happy ending.
