Home Sales and Prices in NKY Continue to Climb

Florence, KY – September 21, 2015- Home Sales in Northern Kentucky continued their upward pace in August, up 1.83% (612-601) for the month and up year-to-date at 3.45% (4172-4033). For the 4th month in a row this year, the average price of homes sold in NKY were higher than the corresponding month in 2014, making it clear that this summer has seen some wild activity in the local housing market. The Northern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® and The

Northern Kentucky Multiple Listing Service report that for 2015, average prices are up 5.32% year over year-to-date 2014 by $8,000 (163K- 155K), which has some sellers reaping the rewards for getting their property ready to sell and on the market during the peak selling time and having their property priced right with the help of their REALTOR’S® knowledge of the local market.

To find a balance in the housing market there has to be more listings available for the number of buyers coming into the market. First time homebuyers and current renters who want to get in on the tax benefits of home ownership might be staying on the sidelines because they haven’t found the home that’s right for them or they aren’t quick enough on the offer to grab it away from another buyer.
